The Jamestown Dive Team released a public statement on Tuesday evening on social media addressing local residents and visitors following extended absences from recent emergency operations on Lake Cumberland.
In the statement, members of the all-volunteer rescue squad aimed to clarify their recent inactivity, explaining that procedural changes and administrative decisions by local authorities have repeatedly kept the team from being dispatched to critical search and rescue scenes over the last few years.
The squad emphasized that its certified divers remain fully equipped, trained, and prepared to respond to emergencies on the water. However, despite reaching out to local leadership for clarification, team members reported receiving no explanation for why their services were bypassed.
